Week 1 Term 4! Welcome back!


 Kia ora Whānau and welcome back to T4

A big warm welcome to Mason, Seb, Emily and Leandro who are starting school this week!

We hope you had a lovely holiday and managed to spend some time in the beautiful spring sunshine.


Unfortunately we are still in Covid Alert L2 and ask you to follow the correct procedures for this alert level.  We thank you in advance for your co-operation.


Here is a small reminder of what level 2 looks like for Rotorua St Mary’s Kākano Students:

  • Arrive at school between 8:45-9:00

  • School pick up between 2:45-2:55pm

  • NO PARENTS IN THE CLASS

  • Children need a water bottle

  • If your child is sick, please keep them home.



Term 4 reminders…


Uniform:

This term children need to be wearing summer uniforms.


Boys:

Grey shorts

Blue polo top

Black/Brown sandals


Girls:

Summer tunic

Black/Brown sandals


It is compulsory for all children to have a school sunhat when playing outside during T4.  Please make sure your child returns to school on Monday in the correct summer uniform with their SCHOOL sunhat.  All clothing needs to be named!


Swimming:

This term the children will be swimming in our heated school pool.  The children will be swimming each fortnight.  We encourage the children to dress themselves before and after swimming. You can help your child at home by showing them how to dry their bodies and hair.


K6, K7 and K8 will be swimming during weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9

K4 and K5 will be swimming during weeks 2, 4, 6, 8 


Please keep an eye on your class blog for reminders about swimming.


FYI: Early finish Tuesday 2nd November

Tuesday 2nd November at 2.30pm, our staff, along with teachers from St Michael’s Rotorua, St Mary’s Putararu and Bishop Edward Gaines in Tokoroa are involved in Titiro Whakamuri kia haere whakamua Professional Development. We will need to finish school at 2.15pm on that Tuesday so I ask that you pick your child up at 2.15pm. If you require after school care you can ring Maryanne Roling from Glenholme Afterschool Care. Mary Anne’ s contact number is : 347 0709 or 0211 215599


WORKING BEE - October 30th 

We intend to have a working bee on the third Saturday after the holidays, October 30th. There are a number of jobs that need to be done. I really appreciate the support we get from you, so thank you in anticipation. Children are welcome and we will have a BBQ lunch.


What is happening this week:

Monday: First day of Term 4 - Welcome back -Kakano 8 swimming

Tuesday: Normal school day -Kakano 8 swimming

Wednesday: Normal school day -Kakano 8 swimming

Thursday: Normal school day - Kakano 8 swimming / Nalu Day

Friday: Library, Sausage Sizzle and Juicies for sale (both $1.50) Kakano 8 swimming

Week 2 / T3

Kia Orana, this week is Cook Island Language Week. To celebrate this we are learning a prayer and some basic sayings in Cook Island Maori. Here is a video of the Pasifika leaders saying the prayer: We had such a great week last week and all students seem to be settling in well! I have been impressed at their willingness to try new things and their behaviour has been exemplary!! This week all of the classes are seeing Harold the giraffe in the Life Education truck. We are learning about our bodies and how to look after them. Week 10 - Term 3

  Week 10 / T3 Kia Ora Kākano Whanau, Well done everyone on making it safe and sound for Week 10.  It has been a busy and strange term with Lockdown and Online Learning.  We thank you once again for your cooperation and support during this time and into our current Level 2 restrictions.  St Vincent de Paul Liturgy will be on Thursday. Catholic Schools’ Day.   Catholic Schools Day is Wednesday. Thanks to Mrs Hall and her team for organising the day. Catholic Schools Day is about celebrating our unique Catholic Character, in faith, excellence and service. It is another opportunity to celebrate the taonga of Catholic Education for which we are kaitiaki. The theme for Catholic Schools Day, 2021 is Tūrangawaewae: Catholic Schools – A Place to Stand.   Children are welcome to wear their own clothing on Wednesday instead of uniforms.
