Midweek 28th July 2021

WOW Day three and our kiddies are looking a little tired! Me too! A few reminders for the rest of the week: • Please check Book bags each day for new homework. – A reminder to complete this with your child together. Please sign the homework so your child can collect stickers towards a prize box reward after 20 nights of homework completion! • On Fridays – a homework learning book will come home with an activity and / or poem to learn and complete over the weekend. • We will also go to the library on Fridays and I have sewn some Library Book bags for the children. Please protect the two library books that go home and ensure they remain safe until they are returned the following Friday to be able to get new ones. • Thursday: Matariki Liturgy 12:15 in the school hall (all parents and families are welcomed) • Friday: Library / Sausage Sizzle and Juicies for sale ($1.50 each) / School assembly (new children welcomed)
Life Education You may have noticed the Life Education van has arrived at school. We will be visiting Harold and Katie over the next few weeks and learning about positive relationships and how to keep ourselves healthy. Keeping Ourselves Safe We will also be running the Keeping Ourselves Safe programme later this term alongside the NZ Police. Please see below: Kia ora koutou, I would like to acknowledge St Mary’s school for their ongoing commitment to delivering the Keeping Ourselves Safe (KOS) programme. KOS is a personal safety programme that teaches students vital interpersonal skills in different situations. You can find out about the programme at: https://www.police.govt.nz/advice-services/personal-community-safety/school-portal/resources/successful-relationships/kos The programme will be delivered by classroom teachers from 23rd August. There will be a community hui at St Mary's School on Monday 9 August, 5.15-6pm, in Room 14, where I will explain what the programme entails, and share some tips about keeping your young ones safe. You are encouraged to attend. Please take time to speak with your children about what they are learning in the programme. It will also give you an opportunity to reinforce your family’s values and expectations. If you have any questions please contact me Vivienne.Sutton@police.govt.nz E mihi ana Viv Sutton We have been busy practising meditation at school as part of our prayer time. I have been so proud of the way the children spend time being still and silent as they invite Jesus into their hearts. If you would like to know more about our Christian meditation please ask your child. Nga mihi Jane Trask
